Kids Get Kicks Collecting Soccer Balls with Robots

Engineers from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla. participated in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science Technology) robotics competition at the University of Central Florida in Orlando on March 12. More than 50 high school teams competed in the regional event to advance to the national robotics championship. On a 27-by-54-foot field with bumps, teams try to earn points by collecting soccer balls in goals.
